Custom Handmade Knit Hat

Work together with an experienced fiber artist to make a custom handmade hat exactly the way you want it. I'll collaborate with you to create a design, send you a sketch, and then find and source materials. I'll focus on sustainability and quality in both materials and production. I'll update you throughout the whole process, including photos of the hat in progress. Once the hat is complete, I'll wash it, dry it, and send it your way

Your custom order might feature a particular visual, structural, or materials feature. For inspiration, prior custom orders have included:

• Specific colorwork designs
• Incorporating text using color or texture
• Personalized cable designs
• Only using recycled materials
• An opening on top for a ponytail
• Using either only wool or no animal fiber at all
• An open-ended request for me to design it using specific colors

Generally speaking, the sky's the limit when it comes to custom orders! We can do anything within reason, and this process is very open to creativity. I'll also work with you to make sure it fits ahead of time, so it'll be as comfortable as possible once it's done. As I knit the hat (and any prototypes), I'll send you progress updates. Where possible, I'll send photos and give a chance to make any adjustments you want.

To review logistics: after you buy this listing, I'll send you a message to start the process. We'll collaborate on the design until you're happy with it. As we do, I'll send you sketches as needed so you can get a sense of what the final product will look like. If for any reason we can't agree on a design or materials during planning, I'll refund your purchase at no cost. You can also cancel your order if you change your mind at any point before the hat is complete for a refund.

Generally speaking, custom hats may take around 2 months to design and knit depending on complexity. More complex designs might take longer. In case of time pressure, we can usually hurry a custom order. Note that this may increase price depending on the request. Please let me know during the planning phase if you have any particular timing needs.

Finally, the hat will arrive in 100% compostable packaging. The outer packaging (i.e., mailer, label, tape) is entirely recyclable. Inside the package, the hat itself is ready-to-wear and doesn't need washing. When it's time to clean, hand-wash it in cold water and lay flat to dry.
