Handspun Autumn Gold Wool Yarn Using Recycled Wool

Quick facts:

• Handspun, 2-ply.
• Hand-blended variation of gold, mustard, yellow, white, and cream with brown.
• About 159 yards (158.5 yards / 144.9 meters).
• Varying weight with some thick-and-thin, but approximately aran (~8 WPI).
• Largely wool; exact fibers unknown.
• Uses a blend of new fibers and scraps.

Description:

This soft, bouncy handspun art yarn has a palette of varying gold, orange, yellow, and cream which I've marled with a contrasting brown. I blended the gold fibers together by hand using my drum carder, and used a reclaimed yarn for plying. It uses mostly wool, with some texture here and there from scrap yarn. The weight of the yarn varies throughout, but it's mostly around an aran weight. I spun the yarn by hand in a smoke-free environment using my Electric Eel Wheel from Dreaming Robots. Enjoy!

Care:

The yarn is ready-to-use. When it's time to clean, hand-wash it in cold water (using a wool conditioner) and lay flat to dry.

Length estimation:

The length of the skein was estimated by weighing a small length of yarn, finding the centimeter-to-gram ratio, and applying this to the entire weight of the skein. If you'd like a more exact measurement, just let me know! I'd be more than happy to measure the exact length with greater precision.

Packaging:

The yarn will arrive in either a recycled gray mailer or a paper mailer. If it’s in a paper mailer, then the outer packaging (i.e., mailer, label, tape) is entirely recyclable and compostable. If it's in a gray mailer, the outer packaging must be thrown away. In either case, the inner packaging will be entirely compostable.
