Handspun Snowy Collage Art Yarn Using Mixed Recycled Materials

Quick facts:

• Handspun, 2-ply.
• White of all tones, sparkles, light blue, gray, etc.
• Approximately worsted weight (about 9 WPI) with prominent thick-and-thin variation.
• Uses a blend of mixed fibers, including wool, polyfill, upcycled yarn scraps, etc.

Description:

This handspun art yarn uses a variety of materials, most of which are white and cream, combined with some contrasting (mostly light blue) fibers. These materials include wool of various breeds, upcycled novelty yarn scraps, and polyfill. This is a 2-ply yarn with a fascinating, varied texture. There's some shimmer and shine to the yarn as well. I blended these fibers together using my drum carder, then spun it on my Electric Eel Wheel from Dreaming Robots. Enjoy!

Care:

The yarn is ready-to-use. When it's time to clean, hand-wash it in cold water (using a wool conditioner) and lay flat to dry.

Length estimation:

The length of the yarn was estimated by weighing a small length of yarn, finding the centimeter-to-gram ratio, and applying this to the entire weight of the skein. If you'd like a more exact measurement, just let me know! I'd be more than happy to measure the exact length with greater precision.

Packaging:

The yarn will arrive in either a recycled gray mailer or a paper mailer. If it’s in a paper mailer, then the outer packaging (i.e., mailer, label, tape) is entirely recyclable and compostable. If it's in a gray mailer, the outer packaging must be thrown away. In either case, the inner packaging will be entirely compostable.
